Quartzsite

Here are some photos from our first camping trip. It was our friend Nobby's birthday and we fixed him apple puff pancakes, sausage and champagne for breakfast the first morning and of course he had to wear the birthday hat! We went geo-caching for the first time, it was fun! That is Jim and Nobby finding the stash in the middle of the desert. The next photo is dinner the second night cooked in a dutch oven in the fire. Last was our neighbors who were all para-sailers. They were exciting to watch take off and land.

Neat stuff. What is geo-catching? And couldn't you have talked your neighbors into letting you para sail? :)

Geo-caching is a game played world wide. You go to geocaching.com and find the GPS co-ordinates to hidden stashes all over the world. Alot of them you need a hand held GPS device to locate the hidden bo or can. The one we found was a cookie tin hidden buried under the rocks beneath the indian petroglyphs. There are about 20 listed sites up here in the mountains near Big Bear. Maybe we'll get a GPS.
And by the way we asked if we could go up tandem but they didn't offer to let us fly with them.

Oh, I had a friend who was into geo-caching. She said it was lots of fun. This was years ago before GPS devices were popular. I remember she was one of the first ones to expain a GPS to me. I thought it was quite cool at the time. I still do. How did you find it without a GPS? Quite impressive.

Also about the neighbors. They didn't sound too friendly. : ( Oh well.

Awesome, too bad Jake probably wouldn't be interested to do that. Maybe we should see if there is a geo-catching site around here and the girls could go on the hunt next time Wendy is in town. It sounds like fun!
